August 2023
July & August Activities
- Water Tank Construction Project
- Construction continues on the water tank
- Walls has been poured
- Dustin will have more in his water department report
- UDOT & the Main Street trees
- UDOT wants a written agreement about the maintenance of the trees along Main Street that are in the UDOT right-away. Discussions with UDOT are ongoing.
- Code Enforcement
- Working with Brock Jackson to create administrative process for enforcing town ordinances
- Working with Justine Wayment, Torrey Town attorney, to ensure town ordinances are enforceable and what changes may be needed
- Grant work
- Applied for a $1.9 million grant from the state to upgrade several portions of the water system. The grant money will pay to replace the 4” inch line on Main Street, complete the loop of the 8” line from Highway 24 to 325 North, replace the Sleeping Rainbow line from the chlorinator to the Sleeping Rainbow tank, and upgrade Sulphur Springs
- Finalizing a grant submission to the Community Investment Bank (CIB) for a new townhall
- New bridge over Sand Creek and Texas dip to better manage flash flood waters
- Attending UDOT trail workshop in Richfield to learn about grant trail development opportunities
- Utah League of Cities & Towns (ULCT)
- I will serve another 2 years on the ULCT board representing small towns in Utah
- IT updates
- The state is setting up a Cybersecurity Center to provide expertise and support for small towns and rural areas of Utah
- Learning how Torrey can utilize their services
- Updating IT documentation & processes
