October & November Activities
- Eclipse
- Had nice weather and over two dozen folks at the park including several young people
- Many thanks to all that helped
- Feedback from couple of businesses was busiest they had ever been but not as many visitors as expected
- New Flag Display
- Short ceremony at DUP on Nov 11 at 11:11 am
- Kudos to Dustin & Jake for building new flag stands
- Will have big flag displayed at the Big Apple
- More details to follow about Big Apple display
- Getting Stops signs on south side of Highway 24
- Water Tank Construction Project
- Dustin will have more in his water department report
- There are some excess funds that we can spend on projects related to water tank upgrade
- Fixing the vault on the middle tank and painting tanks.
- Seeing if enough money remaining to replace the Sleeping Rainbow line
- Code Enforcement
- Need to work with Brock on the details
- Want to have process and resolutions in place by March
- Will need review by town attorney and public hearing
- Grant work
- Water system upgrades
- Applied for a $1.9 million grant from the state to upgrade several portions of the water system. The grant money will pay to replace the 4” inch line on Main Street, complete the loop of the 8” line from Highway 24 to 325 North, replace the Sleeping Rainbow line from the chlorinator to the Sleeping Rainbow tank, and upgrade Sulphur Springs
- Waiting for decision
- New Town Hall
- Submitted $1.4M grant request to CIB
- Torrey will budget $50,000 for Torrey’s part
- There is an in-person presentation in December
- Bridge replacement over Sand Creek
- Identified two possible grant agencies, FEMA & Department of Transportation (DOT) that provide public safety grants, which do not require any match
- Starting the process to apply for these grants
- The first step is meeting with FEMA and/or DOT regional officials to inform them of the project and the safety issue
- Limited work on this item this month
- UDOT Utah Trails Network (UTN) workshop
- Looking at soft surface options for walking trail behind the trees
- Mobi mat is a possible solution
- Dustin & I are looking at simple and cheaper solutions that we can implement ourselves
- The Torrey segment of the Wayne County Connector will be considered during the November priority setting UDOT discussion

- Website was moved to a new server to allow for required updates
- Getting Elementor ($60/year), a website tool that is easier to use than WordPress to maintain the site
- Updating IT documentation & processes
